California Green Building Code Update (CALGreen)
This half-day course will introduce participants to the recently adopted 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), now Part 11 of CCR Title 24, which will become effective on January 1, 2011. The class will: •Briefly describe the development of CALGreen and the transition to it from the voluntary 2008 CGBSC •Review the mandatory green building requirements of CALGreen for both residential and non-residential occupancies •Explain how CALGreen is intended to interact with the other Parts of CCR Title 24, in particular Part 6 (the California Energy Code) •Explore the voluntary green building “stretch” measures available for projects to achieve CALGreen Tier 1 and Tier 2 status •Examine options and resources available for AHJ’s to successfully adopt, implement and enforce CALGreen •Review the process for enacting local amendments to CALGreen to suit local conditions •Explain the evolving relationship between CALGreen and 3rd Party Green Building rating systems (e.g. LEED, Build it Green-Green Point Rated, California Green Builder, etc.) •Discuss the effects and consequences of CALGreen on existing local Green Building Ordinances.

California Residential Code Fundamentals
This full-day course examines critical concepts of the building provisions located in the 2010 CRC. It provides a basis for the correct use and application of the code and builds on an understanding of the intent of the code through practice with real-world examples. This course will also explore the California specific amendments of the CRC and will highlight the needed information every building department in California will need to know to begin enforcing the CRC. Upon completion, participants will be better able to: 1. Explain the intent behind the building provisions requirements. 2. Locate general topics and applicable tables. 3. Define terms essential for correct code interpretation. 4. Identify the code that relates to specific building provisions. This course is applicable for all building inspectors, plans examiners, building officials, fire officials, designers and contractors.
